Our journey starts back in the late 1970's when Thane bought a book in Beaverton Mall (Beaverton, OR) about the Balcomb's "Unit 1" Santa Fe solar home build, see this article in Mother Earth News (https://www.motherearthnews.com/green-homes/solar-adobe-home-zmaz79sozraw).
As the years passed, Thane lost that book and was never able to find it or aquire another copy since. It remained a memory until visiting Judy who lived in the southwest in 2011 and an opportunity came along to attend a 3 day hands-on solar adobe construction class in Belen, NM. It has been a passion of ours to someday build an earthen home free of the modern day contaminants in todays construction materials.
